Mozambique: Inhaca Island ***
Inhaca is a delightful holiday island off the Mozambican coast. Its proximity to Maputo means it's also a great option for a weekend retreat. All it takes is a twenty-minute flight from Maputo and you are there! The island, a secure and tranquil location, is a stop-over for yachts, sail boats and cruises in search of a tropical alternative in the waters of the Indian Ocean.
Snorkelling at places such as Santa Maria is out of this world. There is also Portuguese Island, roughly 5 minutes away by speedboat. Here, sun-seekers can enjoy relaxed day trips, including a beach barbecue offering succulent seafood and other such delights. More than 200 species of birds have been recorded on Inhaca, making this island an excellent venue for twitching. Inhaca Lodge's extensive property, large pool and friendly staff render it perfect for families with young children.
Transfers
Daily flights are available with CFA or Transairways. The airstrip is situated 10 minutes from the Lodge. Daily charter boats can be used as an alternative form of transportation. Transfers from the airstrip to the Lodge are complimentary for lodge guests with an approximate 15 minute drive by Land Rover. Luggage restriction on the flight Maputo-Inhaca is strictly 15 kg and soft luggage is required.
Inhaca Hotel
The picturesque resort offers a total of 40 rooms (20 standard & 20 family), divided into double and twin beds. All the rooms are equipped with air-conditioning and ceiling fans, Satellite TV, tea and coffee making facilities, mosquito nets, en-suite bathrooms with showers.
The lodge has one main restaurant indoors, but meals and beverages are also served outside on
the terrace around the pool. There is also a cocktail bar.
In-house leisure facilities include
Salt-water swimming pool, local curios, table tennis & pool table, internet facilities at main lodge and laundry service

Park Laws
The island is carefully protected as a Nature Reserve Park and it is against the law to remove fish, shells, crustaceans, coral or any other form of nature off the island.
Meeting room
For those wishing to combine business with pleasure, Pestana Inhaca Lodge is the perfect place. The conference area comprises approximately 113 square metres and has a capacity for up to 80 delegates. A business centre is also available with internet connection. The Pestana Inhaca Lodge is also the perfect place to celebrate a special day: wedding, anniversary or birthday. Screen, overhead projector and flip chart can be provided.

- Important: From the 22nd December to the 4th January Bazaruto Lodge will only be sold on the following pre-set arrival days subject to availability:

- Children: 1-4 years of age stay for free on a half board basis when sharing with the parents in a family room. Children 5-18 sharing with parents special child rates apply. Bungalows can support one extra bed for children. Children in separate room will be charged full adult rates for the first child and a discount for 2nd and third child.
- Luggage restriction on the flight Maputo-Inhaca is strictly 15 kg and soft luggage is required
- Inhaca and Portuguese Island are now considered Nature Reserves. The National Park Fee for these islands is currently USD .00 per person and the fee is payable directly at the Inhaca Lodge. All guests and day visitors must insist on a receipt and retain this receipt as proof of payment.
Itinerary: Inhaca Lodge - 4 nights
- DAY 1: Fly from Johannesburg to Maputo, the Mozambican capital city with LAM (Mozambique Airlines). On arrival, proceed through customs and immigration and make your way into the Arrivals Hall. A hotel representative will transfer you to the Rovuma Hotel where you are staying for one night (B&B)
- DAY 2: Transfer to the airport and check in for your 15-minute flight to Inhaca (CFA, collect your tickets at their offices on the first floor). Meet and greet at Inhaca airport and transfer to the Hotel by tractor and trailer. You will be staying for 3 nights at Inhaca Lodge (dinner, bed and breakfast)
- DAY 5: Transfer to the airport for your flight with CFA back to Maputo and flight back to Johannesburg.
Prices include
International flights (departure from Johannesburg) with SAA or LAM , regional flight from Maputo-Inhaca Island return with CFA, hotel accommodation and meals as indicated, all airport - hotel transfers and a selection of water sports.
Not included
Visa fee, meals not indicated, drinks, tips, personal expenses, travel insurance and airport taxes, optional excursions.
