Mozambique: Bazaruto Island: Bazaruto Lodge ****
Bazaruto Lodge has 25 'A-frame' thatched roofed bungalows set amongst lush tropical gardens. The African décor, combined with the 'Deserted Treasure Island' ambience of the location, adds to the charm of the lodge.
There are 12 standard, 11 superior bungalows and 1 honeymoon bungalow. All have sea view, twin, queen or king beds, mosquito nets, private bathroom with outside shower and bath, ceiling fan, air-conditioning, tea and coffee making facilities.
The Flamingo restaurant is the only restaurant at the lodge and dinner is announced every night by the sound of African drums. It is situated in the main building and has a capacity for approximately 80 persons. Mozambican and international food is served both a la carte and as a buffet. Specialities are fish, seafood dishes and grills. Children menus are available and meals can be arranged before meal times.
The Sunset bar is 0pen daily from 07h00 to 01h00, offering coffee, tea, international drinks, tropical cocktails and light meals.
There is a convention centre at Bazaruto Lodge catering up to 25 delegates.
The resort offers a unique combination of beauty, security and relaxation that makes it the perfect spot for nature lovers as well as divers and sea sport enthusiasts.
Outdoor swimming pool, game room, curio shop, pool table, table tennis, DVD and video room, business centre with internet access, library, baby sitting service and free shuttle service to Dolphin Bay.
Activities:
Diving, medium and long distance diving, resort courses, rock, surf and game fishing, snorkelling, sailing boat excursions. Boat trips to the island of Santa Carolina (picnic can be included), wake-snake and water skiing, cobra-cat fishing boat and four-wheel drive jeep excursions.

"It is with regret that Pelican Air Services has been forced to terminate its relation ship with ASAS DE MOZAMBIQUE with immediate effect. ASAS has been the provider for the air transfers between Vilanculos and Bazaruto Lodge and Benguerra Lodge. The lodges are in the process of making alternate arrangements for the transfers of their guests"
The transfers to the islands:
• Bazaruto Lodge – Since the cancellation of the charter flights ASAS de Mozambique, we are waiting for further confirmation from the hotels about the island transfers.
Itinerary: 7 nights
- DAY 1: Flight from Johannesburg International airport to Vilanculos with Pelican Airways. Transfer to Bazaruto Island where you will be staying for 7 nights at Bazaruto Lodge on a full board basis.
- DAY 8: Transfer back to Vilanculos and flight back to Johannesburg.
Prices include:
International flights (departure from Johannesburg), hotel accommodation and meals as indicated, all airport - hotel transfers, non-motorised water sports
Not included:
Visas fee, airport taxes, Vilanculos airport tax has to be paid directly at the airport USD20, drinks, tips, personal expenses and travel insurance, USD10 per person for Marine National Parks fee payable locally
