After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely drive down to the south of Reunion to view the area where the volcano lava ran into the ocean and solidified. The south is known for it's pretty houses and primeval forests. Visit the town of Saint Joseph to see how Vetyver oils are made and then to Saint Philippe, which hosts a Spice and Perfume Garden. Lunch at a traditional Creole restaurant. Take a walk in the Mare Longue forest where you will discover many endemic plants. Return to your hotel via Sainte Rose stopping to see the small church of Notre Dames where lava flow encircled the church without damaging it.
