This 70-hectare island, most northerly of the Seychelles Archipelago, is completely surrounded by a sparkling white beach offering safe swimming and exciting snorkelling. During the months of May to October, the island attracts millions of Sooty Terns, which come to nest. At other times of year, there are also a good variety of other birds - resident or migratory. Hawks bill turtles also breed on the beach during the day from October to February. The whole island is yours to explore comfortably on foot - there is no need to hire a car or bicycle! The Bird Island Lodge offers very comfortable and spacious accommodation in 24 bungalows, each with its own patio overlooking the gardens with the sea only a few steps away. Four poster king size bed with mosquito net, ceiling fan, lounge area, separate shower and toilet/bidet, room safe, terrace overlooking garden and the sea.

The main complex is only a short distance away from the airstrip. It incorporates the reception area which leads to a spacious lounge, bar and restaurant. Adjacent to the reception there is a boutique and a library.

From May to October, part of the island is home to millions of nesting sooty terns and with a year-round population of sat least 20 other bird species it is an ornithologist's heaven. Bird Island is also an important nesting site for turtles and boasts world's largest land tortoise, Esmeralda.

Activities: Bird Island offers excellent big game fishing and bottom fishing excursions. Billiard/pool, table tennis, library, snorkelling and nature tours.

• The lodge is closed from 01 DEC-20 DEC.
• Gentlemen are required to wear long trousers for dinner in the evening.
• Baggage allowance is 10 kg maximum per person. Excess baggage may be accepted on the same flight depending on space availability or forwarded on the next flight. There are secure left luggage facilities at Mahè International Airport.

• DAY 1: Fly from Johannesburg to Mahe, Seychelles biggest island. At the airport our agents will meet you and transfer you to the Wharf Marina Hotel, where you will be staying for one night. (B&B)
• DAY 2: Transfer to the airport and check in for your flight to Bird Island where you will be staying for 5 nights on a full board basis.
• DAY 7: Flight back to Mahe and transfer to the Wharf Marina Hotel (B&B)
• DAY 8: Transfer to the airport and flight back to Johannesburg
