Seychelles Excursion: Two Islands Melody
This excursion, featuring some of Seychelles' most famous landmarks, will introduce to you the extraordinary diversity of the destination. After your arrival on Praslin, Seychelles' second largest island, you will be escorted to the legendary Vallée de Mai, home to the fabulous Coco-de-Mer and once believed to be the original site of the Garden of Eden. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this was once the property of France Jumeau, responsible for giving the Vallée its name. On a guided tour in the shade of this primeval forest that bustles with life from its floor to its tree tops, you will witness how the world's heaviest nut grows high on ancient palms and hear fantastic legends that have become woven around their suggestive shapes.
Leaving the Vallée behind you will be taken to Praslin's colourful Baie Ste. Anne jetty where you will trace the footsteps of Seychelles' earliest visitors by boarding a traditional schooner to the island of La Digue. Here is where time itself and time-honoured traditions appear to have stood still and where, on arrival at the island's quaint jetty, you will be offered newly picked coconuts to refresh you.
The tour of L'Union estate will reveal the secrets of the production of copra, the flesh of the coconut that you will find drying in the kiln and taste while it is still warm. You will learn how coconut oil is made and have the opportunity of taking in the delights of the giant tortoise pen and the architectural splendour of the Plantation House.
Our photo-stop at nearby Anse Source D'Argent will take your breath away as you capture the extraordinary beauty of one of the world's most famous beaches, framed by limpid turquoise waters and age-old granite boulders.
A delicious Creole buffet lunch will be served for you at one of our two restaurants of choice after which we will invite you to enjoy an afternoon of leisure on the beach before again taking to the ocean for the return journey to Praslin and Mahé.
For the faint hearted the excursion is also available by air.
