Zanzibar - Chapwani Island ***

Chapwani is a small hotel on a private island surrounded by white sandy beaches only ten minutes away by boat from the capital Stone Town. Sixteen acres covered with massive ancient baobab trees, coconut palms, passion fruit and giant cacti. The rich tropical vegetation hides a small historic graveyard and harbours abundant wildlife including a heard of dik dik (buck) and many specials of tropical birds (Paradise fly-catcher, ringed plover, pied kingfisher, sunbirds, egrets, crows) and fruit bats. Also found on Chapwani are the coconut crabs.

On this magical little private island there are only ten bungalows each with its own terrace on the beach. The rooms are spacious, with a large bathroom and separate toilet. They are decorated with colourful African prints and furnished with local antiques and four-poster beds. There are no safes in the rooms but you can keep your valuables at reception. All rooms have ceiling fans and mosquito nets. The restaurant on the water’s edge provides a unique blend of Oriental, African and Italian cuisine. The island is surrounded by small coves, sandy bays and crystal blue waters and is perfect for snorkelling, windsurfing and diving at the many interesting locations near the island. Chapwani is a perfect base for discovering the whole of Zanzibar and for life long memories. A large natural swimming pool has recently been built offering clients a chance to swim when the tide is out.

A comprehensive snack menu is available for lunch. Complimentary transfers are provided daily from Chapwani to Stone Town at 10H00 and from Stone Town to Chapwani at 13H30. Otherwise normal transfer charges will apply (approximately $ 10 per person – with local dhows).

Chapwani is closed annually from 01APR-04JUN.
Chapwani Island can be booked exclusively for a group of maximum 20 persons (minimum stay 3 nights)

Itinerary - 7 nights

DAY 1: Fly from Johannesburg to Zanzibar with Air Tanzania. Transfer to Chapwani by car / boat where you will be staying for 7 nights on a dinner bed and breakfast basis.
DAY 8: Transfer to the airport and check in for your return flight to Johannesburg.

International flights (departure from Johannesburg), hotel accommodation and meals as indicated and all airport-hotel transfers
