Rufiji River Camp is located on the banks of the Rufiji river, in the northeastern part of the Selous Game Reserve. Overlooking the mighty Rufiji River and the plains beyond, the camp accommodates guests in 20 comfortable tents. Each tent has twin beds with mosquito nets, en-suite bathroom and a veranda facing the river.The tented camp is environmentally friendly. A constant flow of animals come down to the river to drink, providinga permanent show to visitors of the camp. The water is usually full of hundreds of hippos as well as groups of crocodiles that laze in the sun on the sandbanks in the river. A structure in the central part of the camp hosts the restaurant, bar and library, all with a view of the river and the sunset. Electricity and hot water are derivedfrom solar panels, while UHV-filtered drinking water is available throughout camp (including tents). A covered swimming pool is situated in the camp, between reception and mess area. Besides walking safaris and 4x4 car excursions, a major attraction is the boat trip along the Rufiji River and the adjoining lakes. Over 400 species of birds have been recorded here.Sport fishing facilities are available.
