Zanzibar - Hakuna Matata Beach Lodge ***
Hakuna Matata, a charming small hotel is located 12 km north of Stone Town, in the ruins of the old Chuini Palace of Sultan Barghasch (1870-1888). Here you can also see parts of the original aqueduct, cisterns, the bath and the minaret. Hakuna Matata Lodge has been tastefully integrated into these ruins. The owners restored as much of the old palace ruins as possible and in particular the sultans swimming pool which is now tiered cascade pool varying in size and depth. There is a TV in reception. The hotel has a great reputation for its friendliness and delicious cuisine.
The hotel has a day spa. Mrs Tao is a therapist from Bangkok and Shihaba is a well trained Zanzibari Lady who will do Henna Painting, Hair Braiding and Zanzibar Oil massages.
The beach and the bay are lovely and the lodge is surrounded by 1.5 hectares of garden with old mango trees. At high tide it is possible to swim in the bay. Hakuna Matata is a community development project and supports the Bubu Secondary School.
There are 12 bungalows all with a large living room, queen or king-size bed and spacious bathroom with toilet and shower. All have air-conditioning, ceiling fan, hot and cold water, mosquito net, shower, hair dryer, beach mats and a huge terrace with spectacular views. A safety deposit box is available at reception. The superior bungalows offer the same facilities but have enough room for an additional bed and a more spacious bathroom.
The Kilwa suite offers the same facilities as the bungalows but offers luxury on 60m² and a private terrace with views of the ocean. There is also an additional outside bath.
There is a new luxury executive family bungalow with 35m² living room area and two additional beds. There is a separate bedroom with a queen size bed, ensuite bathroom, toilet, shower, air-conditioning, fan, mosquito nets, and bathrooms and hair dryer.
There are three restaurants offering first class international and local cuisine.
Activities:
Badminton, beach volleyball, a billiard table, soccer table, table tennis in the ruin, open air theatre in the integrated ruin theatre, spa treatments, DVD evenings, diving and excursions.

Itinerary: 7 nights
- DAY 1: Fly from Johannesburg to Zanzibar with Air Tanzania. Transfer toHakuna Matata Beach Lodge where you will be staying for 7 nights on a bed and breakfast basis.
- DAY 8: Transfer to the airport and check in for your return flight to Johannesburg.
